Benefits of Cleansing

No skincare routine would be complete without regular cleansing: cleansing your face washes away dirt, dead skin cells, makeup, and anything else that might clog your pores or lead to skin dullness. Depending on the type of cleanser you use, cleansing can also help clear up spots and impurities. There are many benefits of cleansing including improving your general skin health, and can reduce skin inflammation.

Effective skin cleansing is not just a question of how to use cleanser but also when to use facial cleanser, how often and what type of face cleanser should you use. To make sure you’re putting your time to good use, let’s take a look at some of the ways that you can ensure you’re cleansing properly

When To Use Facial Cleanser

How often should I use a cleanser?

Cleansing your face in the morning and evening is super important if you take your skincare seriously -

AM: When asked ‘how often should I use a cleanser’ we recommend cleansing your face in the morning and evening. Some people think cleansing in the morning is a waste of time as you only went through the cleansing process 8 hour prior. However, overnight our skin can accumulate oils as well as dead skin cells therefore, rinsing again in the morning ensures that you remove the bacteria that accumulates on your face when you’re asleep. This is one of the many benefits of cleansing.

PM: Throughout the day our skin can collect sweat, natural oils and pollution from air particles. Failing to cleanse your face of the dirt and impurities that build up on your skin can lead to spot flare-ups, inflammation and skin irritation.

2. Use water set at the right temperature for your skin

There is more to washing your face than you may first think. Setting your water at the right temperature is critical, and using lukewarm water is often the best choice.

Hot, steamy showers can cause the blood vessels to dilate and lead to breakage of delicate skin tissue. Hot water strips skin of the necessary oil barrier that helps maintain skin integrity, which means that your skin will dry out faster and become more itchy and flaky over time.

3. Use a cleanser that suits your skin type

Apart from learning how to use cleanser you need to know which cleanser to use. When looking for a facial cleanser, you'll want to take several things into consideration, i.e.  your skin type (if your skin is generally oily, dry, normal, or combination), if you have sensitive skin, if you're prone to breakouts and if you suffer from any skin conditions, e.g. eczema, psoriasis or rosacea. All of Florena’s cleansers are soap free to prevent the drying out of your skin, irritation or discomfort.

A gentle or creamy cleanser may work best for you if your skin tends to be dry or sensitive. Those with oily skin, on the other hand, are usually more able to tolerate gel or foamy cleansers. And for those with normal skin, a basic water-based cleanser would be great.

There are benefits of cleansing: cleansing oils, milks and balms tend to be more moisturising than traditional cleansers and are capable of cutting through heavy-duty make-up and sun lotions.

Our Milky Cleanser offers effective but delicate cleansing action on your face, with fermented jasmine, angelica oil and 99.47% natural ingredients: it deeply cleanses, removing make-up and impurities without leaving product residue. 4. Follow up with a moisturiser

Moisturisers often contain a mixture of humectant ingredients, which draw water into the skin, and occlusive ingredients, which help seal that hydration into the skin.

Applying your moisturiser while your skin is still a little damp from cleansing is the best approach, as it helps your skin retain more of the moisture.

Our 24H Moisturising Cream provides long-last hydration, combining fermented camellia with olive oil in a 99.47% natural formula. With its light, fast-absorbing texture, this cream ensures that your skin stays hydrated for 24 hours, leaving your skin feeling soft and smooth, naturally.
